Excellence. It’s an interesting concept – especially, if you’re one who has always experienced “luck” in all aspects of your life. But – is “Excellence” about “luck”? Or – is it more about hard work and determination? Can you be #1 in your field – and not care about Excellence?
Lucky people come in all sizes, shapes, ethnicity, color – and age. But, Excellence is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution and the vision to see obstacles as opportunities.
In my 45 year career assisting business owners to achieve all of their goals and dreams, I’ve never met a successful business person yet who wasn’t 100% passionate about their business, and – probably more importantly, 100% committed to the highest level of Excellence possible. That’s just the way it is. Nothing good in life is easy – and most of the really hard things to achieve, although usually very painful to accomplish, are ALWAYS WELL WORTH IT IN THE END.
If you’re planning to enter a business, and you don’t really feel completely passionate [or committed to the task at hand] – do yourself a favor, and look for a good paying job! Owning your own business is definitely NOT for you!
But, on the other hand – if you’re the type of person who sees opportunity when faced with extreme challenges, you might have just found your calling in life! That’s because “winning in business” is never easy! In fact, it’s really – REALLY HARD! After all, if being successful were easy, everyone would be an entrepreneur and we’d all be millionaires – and very few of us would ever become employees! Of course, we all know that the reverse is actually true. Entrepreneurial “genius” is a remarkable, innate gift – that’s a true honor and privilege to see in action, and … even more of an honor and privilege to experience first hand, when times are at their worst, and … despite all odds, success is realized. But, “Excellence” is just not that simple. It’s more about hard work and determination – than any “God Given” talent.
ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS: Achieving Excellence is like climbing a high mountain peak. It isn’t easy – but, at the end of the climb, you’ll be really glad you stuck it out long enough to experience all of the tremendous views you so rightfully deserve!
